Square announced to rebrand its name to "Block" 13

To make Square a blockchain-inclined company, the owner decided to rebrand the name.

In the past few months, Square has done many things related to the Bitcoin and Blockchain initiatives. In the very beginning, the development team of Square company worked for Twitter to add a Bitcoin tipping feature and further former Twitter CEO announced to make a decentralized channel to push the Bitcoin mining methods much easier for people.

On 2 December, Square company announced through Twitter that they are going to rebrand the named company into Block.

On Twitter, they wrote:

“We’re changing our company name so we can give the full @Square brand to our Seller business. So now we need a name to tie @Square, @CashApp, @TIDAL, and @TBD54566975 together into one. That name is “Block.”

So through the tweet, the company clearly said that all integrated services like CashApp, Square, Tidal, and TBD will fall under Block.

Here TBD is a blockchain inclined team of Twitter, which was first revealed by the Twitter former CEO Jack Dorsey on 16 July of this year.

Twitter was co-founded by Jack Dorsey and he was also CEO of Twitter but recently he resigned from his position as a part of the decision of the Twitter company. However, Jack Dorsey didn’t talked about future plans at that time.

Through the press release, Square said that “Block references the neighbourhood blocks where we find our sellers, a blockchain, block parties full of music, obstacles to overcome, a section of code, building blocks, and of course, tungsten cubes”.

Through the announcement, Square admitted that they have been working on rebranding the name of the company for one year. With the change of the name of the company, the vision will not change. Companies will do the same work with the same vision.
