Even in the present situation, not many people are trying to understand blockchain technology and crypto use cases. And they see these things as criminal tools.
In the present time use case of the blockchain and crypto assets are at that level where we didn’t expected in the past, thanks to the transparency & reliability of the blockchain technology. Even blockchain technology use cases are at that level where US officials are considering adopting blockchain technology to bring advancement in the payment infrastructure of the US system but still many people don’t want to understand and don’t want to see blockchain technology over traditional.
A recent few cases are clear-cut examples of blockchain adoption and misconceptions that people have with this innovative technology.
At the beginning of November of this year, Reddit confirmed that they are going all-in blockchain to swap the karma points into real crypto technology-based karma coins.
Reddit tried the initiative of Twitter to make social media decentralized. And there was nothing wrong with it but the whole user base of Reddit was not in favour of blockchain adoption.
Some people criticized this decision of the Reddit platform and said that Reddit wants to invite spammers on the platform while making social media spam-free is the main initiative of Reddit.
However, besides all these kinds of criticism, Reddit didn’t revoked his plans and is still working on the blockchain-based development works.
Discord
In the second week of November of this year, Discord announced its plan to integrate the blockchain technology and flagship Ethereum based crypto wallets, to bring the crypto services to the fingertips of Discord users.
On this decision of the discord platform, the majority of the Discord user base raised their voice against this decision. Most of the users said that Discord is popular because it is spam free and if crypto services will introduced then lots of spammers will enter the Discord ecosystem. And also those people will enter the platform, which are involved in crypto-related illicit activities.
Due to a huge backslash over Blockchain & crypto initiative, Discord announced that they will not integrate crypto wallets anymore because the users support is everything for them.
Kickstarter
A few days ago, the Fundraising platform Kickstarter announced that it will introduce blockchain technology and make the Kickstarter Platform decentralized.
On this initiative Kickstarter, many people said that Kickstarter is not doing good with this initiative. However, the whole meaning was the elimination of the middlemen roles.
A Korean game designer also shared his point of view on Twitter regarding the plan of Kickstarter to integrate with Celo and suggested to the platform to reconsider this new initiative.
Conclusion: These examples are clearly showing that there is a need of high-level education distribution about blockchain and crypto. Otherwise, people will always consider crypto and blockchain as a medium to facilitate illicit activities.
